The Process Of Multi Axis Turning

In many cases, for cylindrical workpieces and final shapes from these cylindrical materials we recommend the use of multi axis turning centers. These state-of-the-art machines offer the advantage of more than one cutting tool and angle used at the same time on the piece, increasing speed and also increasing precision and accuracy with every part.
How Turning Works
With our multi axis turning centers, the process is the same as working on a single lathe, just with the additional cutting tools and the use of CNC or computer numerical control over the equipment.
The workpiece is held in place and rotates at a set speed. The cutting tools then move along an axis. In multi axis turning centers, there are multiple axes in use at the same time to remove specific areas of the surface of the cylindrical workpiece.
The type of cutting tool, the speed of rotation and the specific path of the tool is controlled by the computer which in turn is reading from an original CAD/CAM diagram. This ensures each part produced is identical to the original drawing entered into the computer system, providing precision in each piece we produce.
